The first round of this year’s Czech Kart Open took place from April 11th to 13th at the Vysoké Mýto Autodrome. The weather brought classic April conditions – spring sunshine mixed with cold winds and occasional showers. The race weekend was filled with thrilling battles and valuable results, including two victories. MS KART Racing Team drivers showed strong performances across multiple categories, confirming a powerful start to the new season.
Samuel Novák continued his excellent performance in Baby 60, following up on his dominant form from Slovakiaring. He secured pole position in qualifying and finished P3 in the first heat. A collision in the second heat caused a setback, but in the superfinal he charged through the field and claimed an impressive victory!
Johanka Sovičková, also in Baby 60, faced strong competition but wasn’t intimidated. She steadily gained pace, qualifying inside the top 10. Despite changing weather conditions, she delivered consistent performances in the heats. In the superfinal, she finished 12th, gaining valuable racing experience.
David Rosypal proved he is one of the fastest junior drivers in the ROK class. He won qualifying and the first heat, then finished a close second in the next one. The superfinal brought hard battles for the lead, resulting in a solid third place.
Lukáš Babáček had a challenging weekend in ROK GP, struggling to find the ideal kart setup. Despite the difficulties, he demonstrated determination and persistence. His pace improved heat by heat, and he fought his way to P11 in the final – a respectable result given the circumstances.
Matyáš Kučera made his debut in the OK-N category, where he faced more demanding machinery and tough conditions. From the first practice sessions, he showed solid pace and improved with every race. A fantastic start in the superfinal and a clean drive earned him fifth place – a great result to kick off the season.
Pavel Sovička returned to the grid in the highly competitive KZ2 Gentleman class after a long winter break. Once again, he demonstrated his fighting spirit and perseverance. Pavel clearly enjoys racing and is looking forward to the challenges of the 2025 season.
Jaroslav Capík continued his great form from the first MSR race and was among the fastest in Vysoké Mýto. He qualified second, placed third and fourth in the heats, and started the superfinal from the second row. He stayed in podium contention for most of the race and ultimately secured P4. Congratulations!
Josef Barilla started the weekend well, but struggled with pace during the races. A tough second heat saw him drop back, and he was unable to finish the superfinal due to a collision. Still, the weekend was full of important lessons that will surely pay off in future events.
Jakub Kadlčák had an exceptionally dramatic weekend in the top-tier KZ2 category. A last-minute setup change before qualifying didn’t work out, placing him P4. A collision at the start of the first heat on Saturday evening left him chasing the pack, eventually finishing second – only to be handed three 20-second penalties, dropping him to P16. But on Sunday, Jakub showed his true strength: he climbed from P16 to P3 in the second final and delivered a breathtaking drive in the superfinal. Starting from P7, he flawlessly worked his way up, closing the gap to the leader with each lap. In the final two laps, he rapidly caught up and made a bold move to take the lead just before the finish. A well-deserved and emotional win!
Filip Vloch also showed excellent pace in his first Czech Championship race at the front of the KZ2 field! He finished third and sixth in the heats. In the superfinal, he ran in the top five for most of the race, but a collision affected his rhythm and he fell back to P11. Despite that, he proved he can race at the front, and competitors will surely be watching him in the future.
Lucie Zimmelová made her MČR debut in the crowded KZ2 field and held steady in the midfield. She drove her own pace in every heat and finished P16 in the superfinal thanks to her consistent performances.
Tomáš Filipenský continues adapting to the KZ2 class. He focused on kart setup during practice, which paid off with gradual improvement in the races. Although he struggled in the first heat, he felt better in the next ones and finished 18th in the final. While the results aren’t at the top just yet, his progress is clear, and he’s gaining valuable race mileage.
A big thank you to all our drivers, mechanics, partners, and Macháč Motors for the hard work and dedication during the first round of the CKO.
We’re looking forward to the next race on May 9–11, where the MS KART team will race at Steelring in Třinec as part of the MP+MSR and Rotax Max Challenge CZ!
