The second round of the Czech Kart Open Championship took place from May 23rd to 25th at the Prokart Raceland Wackersdorf circuit in Germany. The track presented a challenge for both drivers and mechanics with changing conditions. Dry weather gave way to heavy rain, thoroughly testing everyone’s driving skills.
In the Baby 60 category, Samuel Novák once again showcased his excellent form from the start of the season. He already proved his speed in qualifying by placing in the top three and finished second in the first race. He crossed the line in fifth place in the second race and secured a solid third place in the super final. Samuel continues to show strong form and remains one of the favorites in his category.
His teammate Johana Sovičková closed qualifying in the second half of the field but delivered a strong performance in the first race, finishing sixth. Unfortunately, she did not start in the second race or the super final.
Matyáš Kučera is solidifying his position among strong competition in the OK-N category. He qualified in the middle of the field, but his improving pace was evident in the races. He made good progress in the final races and secured a respectable eighth place in the super final. Matyáš is adapting quickly to the new category and moving forward.
Lukáš Babáček faced a challenging weekend in the ROK GP category. He struggled on the dry track in qualifying and made some mistakes in the first race, costing him positions. However, he performed better in the rain and worked his way forward. In the super final, he fought his way into the middle of the field and finished in fifteenth place.
In the KZ2 Gentleman category, Pavel Sovička gradually picked up pace in the races and finished the super final in a solid eighth place.
Jaroslav Capík showed great speed at Wackersdorf, finishing fourth in qualifying and claiming third and fourth places in the heats. He had a fantastic start to the super final but was involved in a collision while battling for second place and did not finish. Nonetheless, he leaves with a strong impression and motivation for the upcoming rounds.
Josef Barilla appreciated the wet conditions on Sunday. From 12th position in qualifying, he fought his way to 7th place in the second final race and finished with an impressive 6th place in the super final.
In the packed KZ2 field, Jakub Kadlčák had to fight his way forward from 12th place after tire issues and a tough qualifying session. In the first two heats, he climbed to 6th place, and in the super final, he once again showed why he’s among the favorites. After a great start, he drove an uncompromising race to finish in an excellent 3rd place!
Lucie Zimmelová had to get used to a new chassis on this challenging track. In the first race, she lost a lot of time due to start problems but fought hard to recover to 17th place. She managed to finish the second race despite the difficult wet debut and several collisions. In the super final, she made a great drive, moving up from P26 to a final 15th place.
Filip Vloch had a tough weekend, starting from the back of the grid and getting caught up in collisions in both wet races. Despite showing good pace early in the races, these incidents prevented him from finishing.
Tomáš Filipenský struggled with chassis setup throughout the weekend. He gradually improved his speed in practice and races, and Sunday marked his first outing on a wet track. Unfortunately, penalties for a dropped bumper in all three races cost him valuable points, but the progress he’s making is clear, and the experience will be crucial in future rounds.
We thank all drivers, mechanics, partners, and Macháč Motors for their dedication and hard work during the second round of the 2025 Czech Kart Open.
We look forward to the next race, which will take place from June 6th to 8th at Fun Arena Cheb!
