The opening round of this year’s Czech Kart Open took place on April 17–19 at Vysoké Mýto Autodrome. Saturday was all about dry conditions and solid pace, while Sunday’s heavy rain completely reshuffled the order. Visibility dropped to near zero, tire pressure became crucial, and every mistake was heavily punished. The MS KART Racing Team competed across six categories and returned from Mýto with a strong set of results.
The standout performance came from Samuel Novák, who dominated the Baby 60 category from start to finish. Pole position in qualifying, wins in both heats, and victory in the superfinal — a flawless weekend. Sam is clearly aiming for the very top this season. Newcomer Lubomír Jáchym finished a solid fifth in the superfinal in the same category.
In Mini 60, Michael Klas struggled with engine issues. Starting from P8 in qualifying, he improved to P6 in heat one, P4 in heat two, and held P4 again in the superfinal — a consistent upward trend throughout the weekend.
In KZ2 Gentleman, Erik Písačka delivered the strongest result, qualifying P2 and maintaining strong pace all the way to a second-place finish in the superfinal. Jaroslav Capík showed impressive consistency, finishing third or fourth in every race and securing P3 in the superfinal. Josef Barilla had a solid start to the weekend but was forced to retire from the superfinal due to a technical issue.
In KZ2, the rain in the superfinal had the biggest impact on the results. Filip Vloch showed strong pace in the dry, but a P13 in qualifying put him on the back foot, and penalties for contacts in the heats didn’t help. He entered the superfinal focused and moved up to P7 in wet conditions. He noted that tire pressures in the rain were not ideal, but otherwise the weekend was positive.
Matyáš Kučera had a difficult qualifying session without a clean fast lap, but steadily improved during the races and evaluated the weekend positively, finishing P13 in the superfinal.
Lucie Zimmelová qualified P9 despite a few mistakes. A collision in heat one dropped her to P15, and although her start in heat two wasn’t ideal, she fought back to P13. In the rainy superfinal, she pushed hard but received a penalty for the front bumper and finished P14. Despite the complications, she sees the weekend as positive — the pace was there, which is key.
Lukáš Lehnert is adapting to the new category, with improving starts and increasing pace, finishing P17 in the superfinal.
Lukáš Babáček had good speed, but the engine lacked sufficient performance for such a demanding track, and combined with zero visibility in the rain, he finished P19.
A big thank you to all drivers, mechanics, partners, and Macháč Motors for their hard work and commitment!
