Jack Tritton & MS Kart with Harvey VM BSRC Division 1 Champions

Jack was going into the last round of 2023 British Super Series by BSRC at Oulton Park on 13-15 October with a new MS Superkart chassis and a Harvey-VM engine in 2nd position of the overall standings so his hopes were still high.

Jack describes the race weekend as follows: “I only went out in 2 of the 4 practice sessions on Friday, just hoping for more reliability and less chance of things going wrong for the race day. Qualifying was wet and with a lot of traffic and yellow flags, my lap time wasn’t as good as expected which left me with some work to do. Race 1 was off to a bad start when I got hit into the first corner and lost a lot of places trying to keep the kart on the track. A good recovery drive from outside of the top 10 saw me take some good points to keep the title fight alive.

Race 2 was a very difficult race as the track conditions were really bad and the rain came down hard during the race. With over half of the field not finishing due to mechanicals, spins or crashes, I kept the kart on the black stuff and came home in P3.

Going into Race 3 all I needed to do was finish in the Top 7 to win the championship. I was very careful at the start, not to make any mistakes. But as I went into the first 3 corners my brake pedal went all the way down without even stopping. For the rest of the race I was having to pump the brake pedal before the corners and hope it would work and stop me. This made it very difficult to make up anytime in the rain and mentally was a challenge to keep pushing harder. With two laps to go I was still sitting in 8th place. I could see my Dad on the pit wall, trying to give me the confidence to push harder as I was over 4 seconds behind 7th. So I gave the kart everything I had and closed and gap up and on the last lap and with two corners left, made the move up the inside and came across the line to take the Championship.

This will be a memory that will last forever and dream that has come true.

I want to first of all thank the main man behind all my success, my Dad. Without the hard work, money spent, miles driven, late nights in the garage, effort put in and most importantly, the belief in me to achieve anything we set our minds to, none of this would have ever been possible.

Thank you to Dave Harvey for all the help with the MS Chassis and VM Engines for getting them top notch all year.

Thank you to Lee and Rod Harpham for building an incredible kart at the start of the year which has not let me down.

Thank you to every single individual or company sponsor that has made this dream come true. Without the help and support, I would have not been able to compete at the front.

Thank you to all my friends, family, fans, supporters for cheering me on every round and sending me so many messages of support.

Sorry Mum for making you worry every weekend I went away racing but at least you got to watch the last round, even if it did make you cry…

Thank you to BSRC and the Rushforth’s for putting on an amazing year again, all the officials and marshals that are part of allowing us to go racing.”
