Max Karhan P5 in OK Junior in Czech Championship Round 3

After the DKM in Genk, Belgium, Max Karhan and his mechanics visited the home track in Vysoké Mýto, where the next race of the Czech Kart Open Championship took place. Max was looking forward to this race because he knows the track in Mýto very well compared to the German DKM series circuits.

In the free practice sessions on Thursday and Friday, the driver and the mechanic tuned the best settings to capture the fastest times.  He was not far behind the top of the class on Friday night, so he could be satisfied and go to bed.

On Saturday there were 3 more official training sessions. Then followed the timed practice, according to which the first final run starts. Here, Max was successful and set the eighth best time overall and thus started the first final heat from the fourth row, alongside his teammate David Gorcic. However, he crashed out during the battles and finished in 11th place..

On Sunday, Max started the second final heat again from the fourth row, only this time from a better position on the left. He finished in an excellent seventh place, but unfortunately after the race the commissioners didn’t like Max’s overtaking of his rival and he got a V-collision penalty for it. After an uncompromising explanation at the tower, he was disqualified from the second final heat. That’s just Motorsport.

It was a big disappointment for Max because he lost the opportunity to start the last final race from the third row… However, even a negative experience counts and maybe that’s why Max went from 12th position in the superfinal to a great 5th place finish!
