Czech Kart Open Písek

The south Bohemian kart track in Pisek became the venue of the Czech Championship and ACR Cup round 5 on August 20–22th. Sunny weather was exchanged by heavy rain on Sunday morning and the choice of optimal tires for slowly drying track played a key role for the course of final heats.

Jakub Talas showed a great pace in Friday’s KZ2 practices and was  successful in Saturday´race as well. He set the second time in qualification and secured a start from first line. In race 1 he started second and drove close behined the leader for the whole heat. He pushed hard but did not manage to overtake. The second final was on wet track on Sunday, Jakub took the lead ashort after start but his just slighty used wet tires did not proove to be the best choice,  Kuba lost the speed in the middle of the heat and finished P4. All our hopes for a victory vanished short after the start of race 3 due to a hard contact with an opponent: Jakub´s kart got off the track and got stuck in wet grass.

Jiří Šafránek raced in the same category. Also he did better on Saturday when he managed to set the 7th time in qualifying. He did even better race 1 and took great 5th position. On Sunday Jiri  finished P8 in race 2  and P12 in super final.

Jan Šafránek took 4th place in KZ2 Gentleman in time practice and improved in race 1 when he passed the finish line apn P3. In race 2  Honza fought for the third position again but ended up on P4. Unfortunately he did not finish super final race due to technical problems.

Václav Tomášek and Tomáš Filipenský represented our brand in  ROK GP category. P8 in qualification was not satisfying for Tomáš but he did much better in the following heats. He scored points for two 5th places in race 1 and 2 and after a breathtaking battle with Vašek Tomášek he finally finished on well-deserved 3rd place. Congratulations, Tom! Vašek Tomášek kept excellent performance from previous races on Saturday. He set P3 in qualifying and he won the first race. Sunday was not a good day for Vaclav, he was disqualified due to underweight in race 2. However, in the Superfinal he fought hard and was not discouraged by a dropped bumper short after the start. After an exciting battle for 3rd place with Tomáš Filipenský he finally finished 5th.

In Mini 60 Filip Kovalík did very well. He finished 8th race 1 and twice P10 in race 2 and 3. He won a great 2nd place in ACR Cup.

In Baby 60 Kryštof Kyllar showed a great pace. He set the 2nd time qualification and after his premiere start from  the first row in race 1 he finished 4th. In Sunday’s races he finished on a great P2 in race 2 and on P6 in Superfinal. Kryštof became the winner of the ACR Cup among unlicenced drivers. Congratulations! Greta Polmova raced in the same class, she did a big progess again finishing P13, P20 and P21.

Many thanks to all drivers and mechanics for very good team work and to Machač Motors for the engines.

Special thanks to Jindra Pešl and Jaroslav Pešl for their great support to our Baby and Mini drivers. The pilots improved a lot thanks to their advice and coaching.
