Donington Park was the venue of the next round of the British Superkart Racing Club Championship and also the British Grand Prix.
Lee Harpham, who, like Jack Tritton, rides a Harvey VM-powered MS Superkart chassis, failed to set a clean lap in a busy qualifying session, but eventually finished 2nd.
In the first race his clutch failed before the start, which meant a quick repair and a pit lane start! With 57 karts on the grid it was tough to get to the front, but the Harvey Motorsport VM-MS Kart was singing and Lee ended up P4.
He led from the start in the Sunday’s Race 2, but then a red flag meant a restart for a 5 minute race. Lee was in the lead again but dropped back to second after a little mistake which gave him P2.
Race 3 was run as the British Grand Prix at the same time and Lee knew that the win would not be easy. He and his team made a few adjustments and were confident that it would work. He led from lights out in the opening stages, but was passed on the outside by Carl Hulme into the Redgate. Lee didn’t give up though and took the lead again in lap two. For the rest of the race he pushed hard, increased his lead, crossed the finish line victorious and as the British 2024 Grand Prix champion to boot.
The rest of the Harvey Motorsport team also achieved great results: Jack Tritton finished in P2 and Mark Edwards in P5. Congratulations all!
“I would like to thank Dave Harvey for providing me with excellent equipment and help. The Harvey-VM MS Kart was on rails and the engine was mega!” said Lee Harpham with satisfaction.
